MS Teams: Viewing a Person's Org Chart in Microsoft Teams

Summary

This article has instructions for how to view a person's Microsoft Organizational Chart (Org Chart) in the Microsoft Teams app.  There are two methods, depending on whether you already have a chat or post from that person easily available or not.
 

How-To

Instructions - Method 1

Step 1 - In the Microsoft Teams app, find a chat or post from the person whose org chart you want to see.

Note: see Task Method 2 below for how to find the person if you don't see a chat or post from them.

Step 2 - Click on the person's circle next to their name or chat post - the circle will either have a picture or initials.  The person's contact card will open.

Step 3 - Click on the Organization tab or Org Chart icon to view the person's org chart.  

Note: if the window is narrow, you may see the briefer view of the person's contact card and org chart.  If possible, widen the window to see the full version.

Outcome

You can view the person's org chart in the Microsoft Teams app

Instructions - Method 2

Step 1 - In the Microsoft Teams app, in the Chat section, click the pencil icon at the top to start a new chat.

Step 2 - In the To: field at the top of the New Chat window, type the name or email address of the USNH person you want to find.  When you see the right person, click on their name.

Step 3 - Click into the "Type a message" box at the bottom of the New Chat window. You do not need to type anything, but now you have the person's name and circle at the top of the New Chat window.

Step 4 - Click on the person's name at the top of the chat. The person's contact card will open.

Step 5 - Click on the Organization tab or Org Chart icon to view the person's org chart.  

Note: if the window is narrow, you may see the briefer view of the person's contact card and org chart.  If possible, widen the window to see the full version.

Step 6 - When finished, you can just close the chat window or discard the un-sent chat.

Outcome

You can view the person's org chart in the Microsoft Teams app
