OneDrive: Troubleshooting/Fixing Sync Issues by Resetting OneDrive

Resetting Microsoft OneDrive can sometimes resolve sync issues and resets all OneDrive settings. OneDrive performs a full sync after the reset. Data will not be lost by resetting or uninstalling OneDrive.

Task: To reset the OneDrive desktop sync app in Windows.

Instructions:

Step 1 - Open a Run dialog by pressing Windows key and R.

Step 2Copy this and paste the code below into the dialog window then press OK.

%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

If Windows displays a message saying, "Windows cannot find...", copy and paste the following instead, then press OK.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

Step 3 - Manually restart OneDrive by going to Start and typing OneDrive in the search box, and then click on the OneDrive desktop app.
