Canvas Commons

Canvas Commons is a learning object repository (LOR) that allows faculty to search for resources, import resources to their course, and publicly share their teaching resources with other faculty.

A resource in Commons can be a course, module, quiz, assignment, discussion, page, document, video, image, or audio file. Resources can be filtered by type, grade level, and shared with, which will allow you to filter results by publicly shared resources, in your account, in a group, or in the consortium for your institution.

Searching for Resources

  1. To open Canvas Commons, click the Commons icon in the Global Navigation menu. The first time you access Commons, you will be asked to authorize your account.
  2. Type your search criteria into the search bar at the top of the screen. You can sort your results using the Sort By drop-down menu and the Filter button.
  3. Preview the resource by clicking the resource title.
