Adjusting Audio Levels

Playing a VHS, DVD or Blu-Ray video:

  1. Verify that the "Audio Mute" button on the system touch panel is not on. When this button is selected, the audio will not work.
  2. Increase the system volume by using the volume up/down buttons on the touch panel at the instructor station.

Playing video from your laptop:

  1. If using HDMI with a Mac laptop, you may need to configure your laptop audio settings. Click here to view our Mac HDMI audio section.
  2. If using VGA, verify that the audio portion of the VGA cable is plugged into your laptop's headphone jack. Not the mic jack.
  3. Make sure you only connect using HDMI OR VGA w/ Headphone. Not both.
  4. Verify that the "Audio Mute" button on the system touch panel is not on. When this button is selected, the audio will not work.
  5. Turn volume levels to 100% in this order: 1. Application (Youtube, Kaltura, etc.) 2. Computer (Windows or Mac OS Volume) 3. Touch panel

Windows Laptop Audio Troubleshooting:

  1. Ensure VGA + Audio OR HDMI is securely connected on both ends of the cable. HDMI carries video and audio through a single cable, VGA requires you to plug in the 1/8" (Headphone) audio plug. Do not connect VGA and HDMI at the same time!
  2. Turn volume levels to 100% in this order: Application (Youtube, Tegrity, etc.) - Computer (Windows Laptop Volume) - Touch panel
  3. Ensure the correct source is selected on the touch panel. Make sure Audio Mute is not engaged on the touch panel.
  4. Still having problems? Try using audio from another source (iPod, other computer, video player). This will eliminate the AV system/speakers as the culprit.
  5. If all else fails, restart the AV system using the touch panel.
