Outlook: Recovering Deleted Items in Outlook Desktop App

Summary

If you have accidentally deleted important items, such as mail, contacts or calendar items, then you may be able to recover them by using tools within Microsoft Outlook Desktop App. This article details how to recover deleted items in Microsoft Outlook Desktop App for both Windows and MacOS users.

 

How-To

Task: To recover deleted items for Microsoft Windows Outlook Desktop App

Instructions

Step 1 - Open your Deleted Items folder in the left-hand sidebar

Step 2 - If the emails are in your Deleted Items, you can drag and drop them into your Inbox or select them and hit the Recover Deleted Items from Server button along the top toolbar.

If the items do not appear in your Deleted Items, continue reading, there is still a chance that the items are recoverable.

Step 3 - Within the Deleted Items folder click Recover items recently removed from this folder at the top

Step 4 - The Recover deleted items screen will generate, within which you have the option to Recover a selected item. Highlight the item you want to recover and make sure the Restore Selected Items radio button is selected

Step 5 - Hit OK on the Recover items pop up and the selected item(s) will now be back in your Inbox or appropriate location

 

Outcome

You have successfully restored deleted items to your inbox or appropriate location

Task: To recover deleted items for Outlook Desktop App for MacOS

Instructions

Step 1 - Open your Trash folder in the left-hand sidebar

Step 2 - If the emails are in your Trash, you can drag and drop them into your Inbox or select them and hit Move in the top toolbar

Step 4 - Type in the folder you want to move the item to and press the Move button.

You have successfully restored deleted items to your inbox or appropriate location
