Canvas (myCourses): Importing Resources from Canvas Commons

Task: This article describes how to import resources to your course from Canvas Commons. 

Instructions:

Importing Resources to Your Course 

Canvas Commons contains a variety of resources, such as modules, assignments, quizzes and discussions, that faculty can import when designing courses.

Steps to Import Resources to your Course

  1. Select a resource from Commons. 
  2. Click the Import/Download button. 
  3. Search for the course(s) into which you would like to import the resource or select the course(s) from the list. 
  4. Click the Import into Course button. An import status notification will appear at the top of your screen. Please note that it may take a while to see changes in your course. 
  5. View your important resource by navigating to the resource area in your course (e.g. Modules, Assignments, Quizzes, etc.) 
  6. NOTE: If a resource exceeds the 500MB course storage limit, Commons will display a warning message that the import may not be successful.
