Custom text HTML

Tags PSU

The HTML block is a useful addition to any Moodle course. This empty block allows you to enter any text you wish to display on your course page. Many folks use the HTML block to display information about themselves, such as Meet Your Instructor or Instructor Contact Information. Other folks insert an image and hyperlink it to a course file to add a bit of visual flare to the class. There are many useful ways to incorporate this into your course page.

Note: You can create as many HTML blocks as you'd like.

  1. Login to myPlymouth.
  2. Select the myCourses tab at the top of the page.
  3. Locate your myCourses channel. In the appropriate semester category, select your course title. You are now looking at your Moodle course page.
  4. Select the Turn editing on button in the top right corner of the page.
  5. With editing mode turned on, you'll see a new block listed on the right side of the page called Add a block.
  6. Open the Add... drop down menu, select the HTML option.
  7. Your course page will then automatically reload and will now display the newly added HTML block above the Add a block section.
  8. Select the gear icon in the new block's title bar to edit it's contents.
  9. Give the block a name by typing in the Block title field.
  10. In the Content section, type out your desired text. Use the formatting toolbar to customize your text as you see fit (you can even insert images if you choose to. Click here for more information).
  11. When you have finished editing, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save changes.

Tip: If desired, you may move this block to another location in the course. Simply hover your mouse over the block's title, click and hold down your mouse, and drag it to another location. Let go of the mouse when you have reached its destination and the block will be relocated.
