Moodle - Exporting Courses - Faculty

Summary

This article describes how to export a course in Moodle for archival or import into another LMS.

Content

  1. Open the Moodle course to be exported.
  2. On the Administration Block, usually on the left hand side, click Backup.
  3. In Backup settings, uncheck Include enrolled users.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Uncheck the items from weeks/sections you do not wish to include in the file.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Change the File name to something easier to recognize or remember.
  8. Review the list of all the items that will be included in the backup file.
  9. Click on Perform backup.
  10. A loading bar will appear on screen and click on the Continue button.
  11. Scroll down to the User Private Backup Area to find your new backup file and click on the Download link.
  12. After downloading and saving the file to your computer, click Manage backup files.
  13. Click the backup file.
  14. Click Delete.
  15. Click OK.
  16. Click Save Changes.
