Canvas: Adding Audio Files Best Practices

Summary

This article describes best practices for using audio files in a Canvas course.

Content

To Add Audio to a Course:

  1. mp3 format is best.
  2. There is an Upload Media option in the text editor (Filmstrip Icon) that allows you to record/upload media files which do not count against course storage quota. It is a best practice to use this option both for the file space and the encoding that occurs to the media files uploaded in this manner.
  3. Another best practice is to store the media files in Box and allow Canvas to access those files as described in the article linked below. This is especially convenient if multiple courses/instructors will use the same file.
