Making Off-Campus Phone Calls

In-State Calls (New Hampshire)

  • Starting October 24th, 2021, you must use the area code on all in-state, off campus calls.  Seven-digit in-state dialing will not be connected as dialed.  This includes 9+seven digits.  Dial as outlined below.
  • Dial 9 then 1+603+seven digit phone number -or- 9 then 603+seven digit phone number for all New Hampshire calls. Dialing a pound sign (#) after the number can reduce connect times by up to 8 seconds in some instances, even for local calls.  You can dial this way ahead of the October 24th FCC mandated change.
  • If the call is a toll call, you will hear three bursts of tone followed by dial tone to indicate that an authorization code is required to complete the call. You will have ten seconds to input your 7-digit authorization code (need an authorization code?)
  • Exchanges in the Local Calling Area

Out-Of-State Calls

  • Dial 9 then 1+AREA CODE+seven digit phone number. You will hear three bursts of tone followed by dial tone to indicate that an authorization code is required to complete the call. You will have ten seconds to input your 7-digit authorization code (need an authorization code?)
