Teaching & Learning Technologies Hands-On Classroom Usage

Purpose: This article provides information about Hands-On Classrooms and how to reserve a space.

Intended Audience:  Faculty and Staff
Environment:  Computer-Per-Seat Classroom

Scope of Article:

UNH Teaching & Learning Technologies maintains classroom-sized computer-per-seat facilities in Hewitt Hall, Kingsbury Hall, and the Memorial Union Building for demonstrations or hands-on computer training for both academic classes and non-academic events.

Instructors can expect the same reliability, ease of use, and functionality as they would a regular technology enhanced classroom at UNH Durham.  With the addition of each student having their own Mac / PC computer, this is a space perfect for teaching many disciplines on campus.

For the safety of our guests and equipment, we cannot book beyond the maximum capacity of our Hands-On Classrooms.

Maximum Capacity

  • Hewitt Hall Room 301 – 29 Students
  • Memorial Union Building Room 14 – 30 Students
  • Kingsbury Hall Room N134 – 21 Students

Scheduling

Reservations for these Hands-On Classrooms are requested through our online request form. If you have any questions, please contact Academic Technology at academic.technology@unh.edu

To view information about installed software packages and to request new software, click here.

A letter soliciting requests for booking semester long classes is sent out to all department scheduling representatives and department chairs about the same time as the registrars office is making the master class schedule. To be added to this list, please email  academic.technology@unh.edu

We ask that all requesters schedule a "Home Base" classroom for your course with the Registrar's office. If another space is not scheduled it will be our expectation that you are able to make other arrangements if the Hands-on Classroom is not available during one or more of the times requested.

Requests for MUB 14, Kingsbury N134, and Hewitt 301 will be logged and assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Please observe the following requirements for the use of these spaces:

  • There is no food or drink permitted in Hands-On Classrooms.
  • No classes can be held that exceed the maximum number of seats in the room.
  • All users must be trained before using the equipment in Hands-On Classrooms.  Please contact  academic.technology@unh.edu  to schedule training.
