MyAccount: Frequently Asked Questions

What is MyAccount?

MyAccount is a secure, unified password management solution implemented by Enterprise Technology & Services to consolidate and simplify the password change process for everyone in the University System of New Hampshire.

How do I access MyAccount?

What information do I need to update my password?

If you know your current password, that is all you need in order to update it.

If you've forgotten your password, that's where the security questions, recovery email address, and more come in. By using these methods of verification, MyAccount can verify that you are who you say you are, and allow you to self-recover your account.

Why do I need to provide a non-USNH email address?

The secondary email address is one of the tools we use for password resets and, rarely, notifications if your organizational email address is unavailable.

Why do I need to do two sets of security questions?

The first set of security questions is used to reset your password on your own without Help Desk intervention in a situation where you have lost your password. Only you should know the answers to these questions, and no one else in the organization should be able to see them.

The second set of questions is for the Help Desk, so that they can ask them when you call, and compare your answer to be certain that you are who you say you are.

Should I set up multifactor authentication on my mobile device as an identity verification method?

Multifactor authentication is a convenient, easy, and secure way to verify your identity using a one-time passcode (OTP). While it is currently optional, we highly recommend using it. If you do not set up multifactor authentication on your mobile device, you will simply default to security questions & password recovery email in the event that you need to use the Reset Password feature of MyAccount.

How can I tell if I have set up my password recovery options in MyAccount?

Log into MyAccount

  • If you have not yet set up your password recovery options, the system will ask you to do so when you log in.
  • If you have set up your password recovery options, it will show you squares with options for what to do next.

If you see squares with options to Setup Security Questions or Setup Mobile App, you can click on the square and it will tell you the date and time you set it up and give you an option to set it up again, in case you want to change your information.
