MyAccount: How to set up MyAccount for an existing member of the USNH community

This process is for established USNH community members who already have their username and password, but are otherwise setting up MyAccount for the first time. This information will be used to help recover your account in the event that you have forgotten your password. Getting started

  1. Visit: https://myaccount.usnh.edu/
  2. Here, you will be presented with a login screen. Log in using your existing USNH username and password.

  3. Depending on whether you have logged in and set up all aspects of your account, you may be directed to one of several prompts. Otherwise, you will be presented with the main menu.

Security questions

Upon your first login or if your security questions have been previously cleared, you will be prompted to set them up automatically.

  1. Choose and answer three security questions to use for self-service password recovery. These questions are only used as a method to recover your account and the Help Desk will not be able to see your answers. Please be aware of the following:
    • Cannot use the same answer more than once
    • Answers must be at least 3 characters long
    • Answers are not case-sensitive
    • The answer may not contain a part of the question (for example, you may see a failure when inputting "Professor" as an answer to "What was your father's profession?")
  2. Choose and answer two security questions for Help Desk verification; these are used in conjunction with other information about your account to confirm your identity if you need assistance.
  3. Review the answers to your questions and click on the Confirm button.

Password recovery email

Another required attribute is the password recovery email.

  1. Next, you will be prompted to provide a password recovery email address, which is a secondary, non-USNH email address used only for password recovery or notifications about your account if you’ve lost access. Enter your email address and click Update.
  2. The next page will show a preview of the secondary email that you just entered. Review this for accuracy and click Confirm when done.

Device-based recovery

We also have the option to set up device-based recovery. This method is optional, as it requires a smart device such as a phone or a tablet, but it is reliable, secure, and convenient. You will be prompted to set up device-based recovery every time you visit MyAccount until it is set up.

If you do not have a compatible device, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and click Skip.

  1. Next, you will be given the option to set up a mobile device for account recovery purposes. Choose the tab relevant to your preferred app and follow the detailed instructions on the screen. MyAccount supports the SecureAuth Authenticate app (recommended) and most third-party authentication apps including as Google Authenticator.
