SharePoint: Enable Sharing with External Users

Summary:

This article will talk about how to share content with users outside of USNH.  Sharing SharePoint files with external users (guests) allows you to securely collaborate with people outside your organization such as your peers, vendors, clients, or customers — with or without a Microsoft 365 subscription, or SharePoint account.

Content:

Sharing Folders or Files is a need in many cases for users to collaborate with peers outside of USNH.  Microsoft SharePoint allows this to happen using permissions set against those links.  When requesting a new SharePoint site, users should indicate if they want to be able to share with External (non-USNH) users.  If requesting a new SharePoint Site use the following link to the form:   https://td.unh.edu/TDClient/60/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=139

For more specifics on sharing files or folders from SharePoint, see the following documentation from Microsoft.

Note: If a sharing option has been greyed out, your organization's admins may have restricted them. For example, they may choose to disable the Anyone option to prevent usable links being forwarded to others.
