Main Floor Studio Station Instructions

  1. First, plug in your USB drive. This is located directly in front of the monitor. The lighting and audio controls will automatically be turned on once the computer reads the USB drive.
  2. If you plan on using the teleprompter and you're working with a script, make sure you can copy and paste the script file.
  3. Open up the Chrome browser on the machine and go to https://cueprompter.com/ or http://www.freeteleprompter.org import your script into the browser teleprompter.
  4. Make sure if you're using the teleprompter to press the "on button" located on the front side of the teleprompter in the lower right corner. If the image is not a mirror image of your PC screen be sure to press the "flip" button on the teleprompter.
  5. Press the "Start Teleprompter" button on Free Teleprompter to bring up the teleprompting functionality. Lastly drag the teleprompter browser screen with your script from the PC screen to the teleprompter. Use the play arrow icon to begin teleprompting, and see the bar at the top of the site for additional tools to adjust the movement and functionality of your script.
  6. The camera should already be on. If the camera is not face the wall the camera is mounted on and the power button is located on the top back right side of the camera. Note: If you choose to close/push back the LCD camera screen, make sure that the LCD screen faces outward tucked into the side of the camera. If you close the LCD screen with the screen against the camera the camera will automatically turn off. Note: if you use the teleprompter be sure the LCD screen is placed this way, any light could impact the readability of the teleprompter.
  7. To begin recording simply click the record button (Red Circle) above your USB. To end the video simply click the stop button (Black Square) directly below the record button.
  8. DO NOT TAKE OUT THE USB YET! There will be a tiny green light to the right of your USB, when you click stop, the green light will start flashing, this just means it is saving your video, simply wait until it stops flashing and then you are good to go.
  9. You can adjust the height at which you want the camera with the wheel located under it. It is labeled, "Adjust Camera Height Here".
  10. Feel free to place the teleprompter right in front of the camera as the teleprompter is polarized and will not impact your shot.
  11. However if you'd like to use either the blue filter or green filter you should not put the teleprompter in front of the camera as the light will not allow you to see your script on the teleprompter.
  12. To turn on the green or blue filter simply look directly under the monitor behind where you inserted your USB. There is a black box labeled "Chroma Key Green' and "Chroma Key Blue". Flip the switch up to use green, or down to use blue, but be cautious of what you're wearing. If you're making effects with a blue screen and are wearing a blue shirt well you might just become part of that effect yourself.
  13. If you would like to use the projector to help in any way simply plug in the HDMI cable from the port located next to the USB into the back of your computer.
  14. To change backdrop you can use the gray pulley system to the left of the backdrops. We have a white backdrop behind the Chomatte (gray) backdrop. FYI if you are planning on using some effects with either green light or blue light, keep the Chromatte backdrop down.
