Finding IP Address on Apple Mac Computers

This article shows how to find your IP address on an Apple Mac computer through two methods - through Network Utility or System Preferences.

Task: To Find Your IP Address through Network Utility

 

Instructions

Step 1 - To find your computer's IP address on an Apple Mac machine, first open the spotlight search by clicking the magnifying glass in the top right corner, or by hitting the keys Command + the space bar (?, space).

Step 2 - Type in Network Utility, and press enter.

 

Step 3 - Make sure that it is set to the correct adapter (Ethernet if you are using a wired connection, and WiFi if you are not).

 

Step 4 - Your computer's IP address is listed under "IP Address".

 

Outcome

You should be able to find your IP address through network utility.

Instructions

Step 1 - Alternatively, to find your computer's IP address you can click the apple logo and select "System Preferences".

 

Step 2 - Then click on 'Network'.

Step 3 - Your computer's IP address is under the bold "Connected".

 

 

Outcome

You should be able to find your IP address through system preferences.
