Kaltura - Playlists

Summary: 

This article will provide information on how to create play lists, add or remove content from those play lists including in channels

Content:

Playlists are a good way for users to organize or group videos together in like categories so that users of the system can find similar content all together.

Creating a Playlist:

  1. Log into Kaltura ]
  2. Click on your name in the upper right, select My Playlists
  3. Use the Create Playlist Icon to create a new Playlist
  4. Provide a Title to the Playlist.  Its best practice to also include a brief description and add tags.  This will help users and search capabilities within the system.
  5. Click Add
  6. Your Playlist is now created

Adding Content to a Playlist:

  1. Click Add to Playlist icon
  2. A list of playlists will appear, use the "+" plus to the right of the content to add that content to the Playlist, you will see the media populate to the left
  3. You can use the filters at the top as well to find media in the system as well as Search for Media
  4. Once complete, select Done and the added media will populate your Playlist
  5. At the top of the screen click Save

Modifying a Playlist:

  1. Click on your name in the upper right of the screen and select My Playlists
  2. Locate the Playlist that you want to modify and click on the pencil icon, Edit
    1. Once in edit mode, you can edit the Title, Description, Tags as well as Add, Remove and Re-order the media
  3. To add media, use the Add to Playlist icon and follow the steps above in Adding Content to a Playlist.
  4. Using the 3 dots to the left of each media listing, you can Move the media to the top, bottom or remove it from the Playlist
  5. Using the 2 lines (look like equal sign, =) to the left of the media you can drag and drop the media to the desired location
  6. Once complete with the modifications, choose Save at the top

 

Creating Playlists within a Channel:

Playlists within a channel help organize like media together within a channel.  Example, in the Documentation and Training Channel playlists were create to represent each software application we train.

  1. Click on your name in the upper right of the screen and select My Channels
  2. Locate the Channel in question and click on it
  3. Using the Channel Actions icon in the upper left and choose Edit
  4. Click Playlists tab 
  5. Click the Icon +Create Channel Playlist
  6. Use the steps above under to Creating a Playlist and Adding Content to a Playlist
