Undergraduate Research Conference (URC): MediaSpace: Moderating Channels and Managing Playlists

Approve or Reject Content Shared to your Channel

  1. Navigate to MediaSpace and log in using USNH credentials.
  2. Click on URC.
  3. Scroll down and select the Event Channel you wish to moderate.  You will only have rights to manage the channel for your specific event.
  4. If there are presentations shared that need to be reviewed there will a PENDING tab displayed. 
  5. Click on Pending to view the presentations that need to be reviewed.
  6. After reviewing the presentations, select Approve or Reject.

If you accidentally approve something that you did not wish to have in the channel, you can remove it.  Click on the "..." icon on the video on the channel.  Then, click on the "x" icon to remove it.

Managing Playlists Within Your URC Channel

You can create Playlists within your URC Channel if you have different groups of presentations within your channel.  This may not be needed in smaller events, but for large events such as those that are college-wide, you may want to create Playlists to organize the various presentations by topics.

You can only add an item to your Playlist after it has been uploaded and approved for the channel first.  Be sure to do those above steps before proceeding.

  1. Navigate to your URC event Channel in MediaSpace.
  2. Mouse over the small grey menu box in the upper right and select Edit.

     
  3. Click on the Playlists tab.
  4. Click the + Create Channel Playlist button.
  5. Enter a title, and optional description and tags for your Playlist. Click Add.
  6. A new window will open up showing the new, empty playlist.
  7. Click +Add to Playlist on the lower right.
  8. Use the drop down menu to select Channel to see the media in your channel instead of your own My Media items.
  9. Select the presentations to add to the Playlist by clicking on the + icon to the right of the presentations.
  10. Drag the items up and down in the playlist using the = icon to put them in the desired order.
  11. Click Done when finished.

The playlist will automatically appear in your Channel.  Create as many playlists as needed to organize things.  You can drag playlists into the order you wish them to appear.  You can also go back into any playlist to edit it to add, remove, or reorder items.  Just click the pencil icon on the playlist you want to modify.

Allowing or Blocking Comments

MediaSpace allows comments to be posted about a video.  Only UNH account holders can post comments, but anyone who visits the channel can view them.  All comments get labeled with the name of the person who posts them.  There are no anonymous comments possible.  The owner of the video has the ability to delete any comments made.

Comments are enabled on all channels by default.  If you wish to disable comments, use the Edit function to view the details about the channel.  There are two options related to comments.

Clear the Enable comments in channel setting to turn off comments in the channel completely.  If you are allowing comments on the channel, we recommend that you do not check the Keep comments private to channel option so that students can easily access all posted comments both in the channel and while viewing their recording in My Media.
