Directed Communication (DC) Express: Managing Subscribers

Summary:

This article will cover the process of managing the list of recipients within your DC Express List.

Content:

USNH Enterprise Technology Services, offers a community mailing list option, Directed Communication (DC) Express, using the USNH implementation of Mailman. Interested departments can use this service to send email to students participating in their programs. For more information see [Directed Communication (DC) Express: Overview]

ADVISORY: The DC Express service uses auto-populated lists of students in academic departments. These auto-populated lists refresh daily to assure you are sending to the most current list of students on any given day.

Manually adding to or changing your membership list is temporary only, and any changes made will revert the next day.

If you wish to make permanent changes in the form of adding/removing owners and/or moderators, please request assistance here to coordinate the appropriate configuration changes.

In general, list membership configuration takes place at the time of list creation. Web and Mobile adds list owners and moderators, and connects a filtered list of students to your Mailman list. If needed, you can add to your DC Express list a manually curated list of student names and addresses (e.g. a list of students not readily available in BANNER, such as those with dual majors).

Manual (temporary) Additions to Your Membership List

In the following examples, we will use a test mailing list to demonstrate adding names and email addresses via subscription form, as well as a list of addresses stored in a plain text file:

  1. In your web browser, navigate to your Mailman list login page   (e.g. https://lists.unh.edu/mailman/admin/test.dsm.at, a test list used for this example) and log in with the credentials provided to you after list creation (Figure 1).
