Xtender: Copy email from Outlook into Xtender

This tip is for anyone using the web version of Xtender and an installed version of Outlook (not Outlook Web App).

Need to save an email from Outlook into Xtender? You can easily copy it into Xtender.

Here’s how:

  1. Start with Xtender Web Access and Outlook open. In Outlook, you should be looking at the list of email. In Xtender, you can be anywhere. A new document will be created when you move the email in.
  2. Arrange your browser windows so that you can also see your computer desktop.
  3. In Outlook, drag the closed email to the desktop.
  4. Switch to Xtender.
  5. Drag the email from your desktop to Xtender.
  6. Index the document.

Note: These steps will include any attachments as well. Email attachments can either be stored with the original email (kept as a .msg file in Xtender), or as separate pages in your Xtender document. To determine how they are stored, adjust your User Settings (Import section >> Import Email Attachment as New Page checkbox). Xtender: Define the User Settings
