Canvas offers a course menu link called "Syllabus" as a location for faculty to upload their syllabus.  The Syllabus area provides an area to share more information about the course.

The Syllabus page automatically generates a list of links to the assessments that are added to the course.  Assessments are listed by due dates, otherwise, they will be listed in alphabetical order.  Any changes to assessments will reflect on this page.

On the right sidebar is a small calendar that highlights assessment due dates and below that is a table showing the assignment weighted groups.

Adding a Syllabus:

Click on the Edit button in the upper right side.  This opens the Rich Content Editor.  You can proceed to type content in the rich content editor, you can copy and paste your syllabus from your Word document or the best option is to attach your syllabus as a file.  This allows the student to download the file on their local device.

  1. To add a file, click on the Files tab on the right side, click the Upload a New File icon.
  2. Next select Choose File to locate the file on your device.
  3. Finally select the Upload icon.
  4. The file will be placed on the Rich Content Editor where your cursor was located.
  5. Select the Update Syllabus icon to save your changes.

If you would like to make changes to your Syllabus document, you would to do this outside of Canvas and then re-add the document to the Rich Content Editor.
