How to connect Tableau Desktop to a file saved in a Box folder.
Desktop users can access flat files stored in Box folders. The same file types that are supported by Excel, Text, and JSON connectors are accessible via the Box connector.
Answer
Make the connection to Box and set up the data source from Tableau Desktop
1. On the Desktop start page, under Connect, click Box. For a complete list of connections, select More under To a Server. In the tab that Tableau opens in your default browser, do the following:
a. Enter your UNH email and then click use SSO. You will be redirected to the UNH SSO page. Enter your ad user name (username@ad.unh.edu) and password as outlined in the window and select Sign in.
b. Click Grant access to Box in the browser that opens.
c. Close the browser window when notified to do so.
d. Search for or select the file to connect to, and then click Connect.
2. On the data source page, do the following:
a. (Optional) Select the default data source name at the top of the page, and then enter a unique data source name for use in Tableau. For example, use a data source naming convention that helps other users of the data source figure out which data source to connect to.
b. Click the sheet tab to start your analysis.
